Monarchs Win at Home, 4-2
|
The Kansas City Monarchs topped the Ottawa Mounties, 4-2, in National League action at Muehlebach Field 1923-1941. The standout performance belonged to Kansas City pitcher and El Paso, Texas, native Frank Castillo. Jeff Pfeffer picked up the save, his 5th. The loss has the Mounties at 7-7.
The Monarchs got a big at-bat from center fielder Willie McGee. For the game, McGee was 1-4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 7th double of the season gave Kansas City a 2-0 lead.
"My job is to go out and execute," said Castillo.
