Vaughan Stars for Spiders in 8-5 Win
The Cleveland Spiders defeated the New York Black Yankees, 8-5, at League Park today. Leading the charge for Cleveland was shortstop Arky Vaughan. He went 3 for 3 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Cleveland reliever Ron Reed picked up the win, raising his record to 1-4. Dick Tidrow was tagged with the loss. Terry Adams got the save, his 38th in 45 chances.

Cleveland took a 6-5 lead on Jake Stahl's 6th triple of the season. The run-scoring triple, which Stahl hit in the bottom of the eighth, left New York pitcher Dick Tidrow visibly frustrated.

"I felt good up there," said Vaughan. "I saw the ball well."

With the win, Cleveland raised its record to 86-68.
