Toad Ramsey, who is tied for 5th in the NL in wins with 16, had a strong outing for the Houston Colt 45s against the Homestead Grays at Minute Maid Park. The left-hander was a big part of his team's 5-2 win. Sparky Lyle was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 6 of 9 save opportunities. With the win, Houston pushed its record to 81-73.

Gorman Thomas had a big 2-run home run for the Colt 45s in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Houston leading 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from 25-year old right-handed pitcher Bartolo Colón and punished it. The result was his 10th home run of the season, which put the Colt 45s on top, 4-1.

"We'll take some time to unwind," said Thomas, "and then get after it again."
