Black Barons Earn Win with Late Rally
Birmingham picked up a win at Muehlebach Field 1923-1941, bumping off the Kansas City Monarchs, 3-2. Pitcher Charlie A Morton was a major reason the Black Barons emerged victorious. The winner in relief was Akinori Otsuka. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 3-1. Harley Young notched his 12th save in 15 chances.

Troy Tulowitzki came through with a big-time hit for Birmingham. The shortstop smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the 12th inning to give his team the lead, 3-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"You come to the ballpark to do your job and that's what I did today," Morton told the Birmingham Today.

The Black Barons raised their record to 72-81.
