Cuban Giants Lose at Home, 6-4
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Miami Cuban Giants and Memphis Red Sox.

The Miami Cuban Giants defeated the Memphis Red Sox, 6-4. Doing his part was left fielder Cookie Rojas, who went 4-5 with a double and 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs. Ricky Nolasco picked up the save for Miami, his 2nd of the year.

Miami right fielder Yasiel Puig contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the sixth. With two down, he hit a curveball to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 5th hit of the season and put the Cuban Giants ahead, 5-4.

"You need to show up when your number's called," said Puig.

The Red Sox fall to 6-9 and continue their lackluster start in 2001.
