Royal Giants Win at Kansas City, 8-1
|
Roy White was a vital contributor to the 8-1 Brooklyn victory over Kansas City. The Royal Giants left fielder was 2-3 with a home run. Ralph Branca earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 3 innings. His record is now 2-1. The Royal Giants are off to an underwhelming start as they look to defend their championship, notching only their 7th win in 16 games.
Ron Cey had a big solo home run for the Royal Giants in the top of the fourth inning. With Brooklyn leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a screwball from A. Rube Foster, who finished 3rd in the NL in ERA with 3.30 last year, and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Royal Giants on top, 2-0.
"It feels good to get this one," White told the Brooklyn Daily News.
