The Baltimore Black Sox picked up a win at League Park, knocking off the Cleveland Spiders, 3-2. Starting pitcher Dennis Martínez was a big reason why. Martínez yielded 1 run over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 4. His record improves to 3-0. Buddy Groom earned the save, his 3rd.
Eddie Murray, who is rated as the 73rd best prospect by BNN, had a direct impact on the outcome. Murray contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning to put Baltimore up, 3-1.
"We did the things it takes to win a ballgame," said Baltimore manager Daniel Makonnen.
With the loss, Cleveland falls to 4-12.
