Black Barons Use Late Score to Top ABCs, 3-2
|
Both teams had their chances, but the Birmingham Black Barons eventually prevailed.
The Birmingham Black Barons faced a tough opponent in Indianapolis pitcher Edward Nolan, but found a way to pull out the victory at Crosley Field by a final score of 3-2 in 10 innings. Nolan went 5 innings and allowed no runs. Getting the save was Harley Young, his 5th.
Curtis Granderson came through with a big-time hit for Birmingham. The center fielder smacked a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to give his team the lead, 3-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
Granderson called the win a testament to his team's "tenacity."
Birmingham goes to 7-9.
