Ottawa Loses, 6-2, to Birmingham in 12
|
The Birmingham Black Barons topped the Ottawa Mounties, 6-2, with center fielder Curtis Granderson playing a big role. Granderson hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for the Black Barons in the win. The save went to Bruce Chen, number 1 for him. The loss has the Mounties at 9-8.
Birmingham used a timely hit from Bob Nieman to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the 12th inning to put the Black Barons ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.
"We need better swings, better at-bats," said losing manager Daniel Makonnen.
