Good production from third baseman Evan Longoria helped the Cleveland Spiders topple the Baltimore Black Sox, 5-4. Longoria was 2-4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice for the Spiders. Stan Coveleski picked up the win, improving his season record to 3-1. He struck out 1 in 5.1 innings. For the Black Sox, the loss makes their record 6-13.

With Cleveland trailing 2-1 in the top of the fourth, Longoria hit a fastball from Mike Mussina for a 3-run home run. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Spiders ahead, 4-2.

"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Baltimore manager Daniel Makonnen said, following the tough loss.
