Wet weather did not postpone the Chicago-Indianapolis ballgame.

The Chicago American Giants picked up a win at Crosley Field, knocking off the Indianapolis ABCs, 5-1. Starting pitcher Herb Pennock was a big reason why. The loss drops Indianapolis to 5-17.

Chicago won the game in part because of Chino Smith. The right fielder ripped a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the American Giants ahead, 5-0. For the game, Smith had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.

Smith told a Chicago Gazette reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
