Sea Lions Win at Home, 5-2
|
The game between San Francisco and Miami is in the books, despite a little rain.
San Francisco Sea Lions starter Eddie Plank hurled his team past the Miami Cuban Giants, 5-2. The save went to Rod Beck, number 7 for him.
The Sea Lions got a big at-bat from second baseman Jimmy Bloodworth. For the game, Bloodworth was 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave San Francisco a 3-2 lead.
San Francisco manager Daniel Makonnen praised his team's "businesslike approach."
The Cuban Giants drop to 11-15, as their stumbling start to the 2001 season continues.
