Fans who congregated at Ebbets Field were treated to extra-inning drama.

Behind the hitting of Scott Rolen, the Philadelphia Stars stopped the Brooklyn Royal Giants, 5-2, in 10 innings. Rolen was 2 for 5 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Stars. Mark Melancon notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. His record now sits at 2-0.

Rolen had a game-changing home run in the top of the tenth. On a 2-2 fastball from Frank Knauss, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Stars a 4-2 lead. It was the 5th home run of the year for Rolen.

"It was just a matter of executing," said Philadelphia manager Daniel Makonnen.

Brooklyn is now 12-12.
