Cuban Giants Pull Out Late-Game Win, 6-5
|
Eric Davis did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the New York Black Yankees from being beaten, 6-5, to the Miami Cuban Giants at Yankee Stadium. Davis was 2 for 5 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Ramón Martínez claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.1 innings. His record stands at 1-0. New York now has a record of 1-2.
Robin Yount came through with a big-time hit for Miami. The shortstop smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 6-5. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"We take it day by day here," said Yount, "and today was a good one for us."
