The Detroit Wolverines topped the Cleveland Spiders, 6-1, in American League action at League Park. The game was highlighted by the performance of Detroit pitcher Hal Newhouser. Newhouser yielded 1 run over 7.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 3, and struck out 4. His record improves to 2-1. Detroit goes to 16-15.

Detroit won the game in part because of Hank Greenberg. The first baseman ripped a solo home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Wolverines ahead, 2-0. For the game, Greenberg had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
