Mounties Turn Away Gothams, 4-2
|
The game between Ottawa and New York is in the books, despite a little rain.
The Ottawa Mounties beat the New York Gothams, 4-2, at Hilltop Park. Carlos Beltrán, who is tied for 4th in the NL in RBI with 25, starred for Ottawa. He was 2 for 3 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Charles Radbourn, who is tied for 7th in the NL in innings pitched with 39.0, was the winner. He's now 3-3. The loser was Christy Mathewson.
Ottawa grabbed the momentum in the bottom of the fifth, when Beltrán hit a 2-run home run off Christy Mathewson. His 8th home run of the season put the Mounties out in front, 4-2.
"We had some nice at-bats at the right time," said Mounties manager Daniel Makonnen.
New York falls to 16-14.
