Angels Suffer 7-2 Road Loss
With designated hitter José Canseco leading the charge, the Miami Cuban Giants defeated the Los Angeles Angels, 7-2, at Baker Bowl. Canseco, who is tied for 10th in the AL with a .404 on-base percentage, was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Cole Hamels, the winner, improved to 3-2. He held Los Angeles to 1 run on 5 hits over 6 innings, while racking up 7 strikeouts. Miami goes to 15-16.

Gary Sheffield had a big 2-run home run for the Cuban Giants in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Miami leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a slider from Brett Anderson, who is tied for 4th in the AL in wins with 3, and punished it. The result was his 6th home run of the season, which put the Cuban Giants on top, 3-0.

"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Sheffield.
