Homestead Wins, Clemente 4-for-5
Good production from right fielder Roberto Clemente helped the Homestead Grays topple the New York Gothams, 10-5. Clemente went 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2 for the Grays. Homestead reliever Billy Pierce was the winner. His record is now 2-1. Santiago Casilla took the loss. Homestead goes to 14-15.

Homestead used the timely hitting of Judy Johnson to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Grays on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Johnson told the Homestead Times.
