Indianapolis Decked by Ortiz, Red Sox
|
The Memphis Red Sox and Indianapolis ABCs completed their game despite the inclement weather.
Memphis first baseman David Ortiz contributed significantly to his team's 8-0 win over the Indianapolis ABCs. Ortiz, who is tied for 3rd in the AL in RBI with 29, went 2 for 4 with 3 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Red Sox. The defeat makes Indianapolis 10-21.
In the top of the fourth, Memphis second baseman DJ LeMahieu had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and one out, LeMahieu stroked a run-scoring single to left. It made the score 2-0, Memphis. For the game, he was 2 for 3 with 2 singles and a walk.
"We didn't put our best foot forward tonight," said losing manager Daniel Makonnen.
