Stars Get Past Birmingham, 7-6
The Philadelphia Stars defeated the Birmingham Black Barons, 7-6. First Baseman Ted Kluszewski deserved a large share of the credit. Kluszewski belted 2 home runs for the Stars. Philadelphia pitcher Ted Kennedy got the win, upping his record to 2-1. Juan Rincón got the loss. The 'W' lifts Philadelphia's record to 16-18.

The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Philadelphia trailing 6-5, Charles Rogan hit a cutter from Juan Rincón to left for a 2-run single. Just like that, the Stars had a walk-off win.

"The fans went nuts at the end," Kluszewski said.
