Memphis Sent Home with 6-4 Loss
Despite a great performance by Memphis left fielder Ted Williams, the Philadelphia Stars defeated the Red Sox by the score of 6-4 at Shibe Park AL. Williams slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Mark Melancon recorded the save for Philadelphia, his 4th of the season. The Stars now have a record of 21-13 with the win over Memphis.

The Stars got a big at-bat from designated hitter Rico Carty. For the game, Carty went 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a grand slam home run. His 9th home run of the season gave Philadelphia a 6-2 lead.

"We ground out the win," said Carty. "That's all that matters."
