Spiders Beaten By Black Yankees, 5-1
Jack Scott never let Cleveland get something going. The New York right-hander commanded his curveball in pitching the Black Yankees to a 5-1 win. Aroldis Chapman was credited with the save for New York, his 7th of the season. With the win, New York pushed its record to 24-11.

One pivotal at-bat came in the top of the fourth with one out. With the bases loaded and the Spiders trailing 2-0, Jack Scott needed to make a quality pitch. He threw a 1-0 fastball to retire Chuck Knoblauch, who hit into a double play.
