Sea Dogs Sunk by American Giants
|
The Chicago American Giants knocked off the Portland Sea Dogs, 7-4, at South Side Park. Frank Thomas hit 1 single and 2 doubles, while driving in 2 runs. Larry Twitchell snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits over 2.2 innings. He's now 1-0 on the season. The win gives Chicago a record of 2-1.
Chicago third baseman Dick Allen contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a fastball to left-center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 4th hit of the season and put the American Giants ahead, 6-4.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Allen said.
