The Baltimore Black Sox got a good effort from starter Bill Byrd in defeating the San Francisco Sea Lions at Camden Yards. The final score was 4-2. Byrd got the win, improving to 3-2. He allowed 5 hits and walked 2 over 6 innings. Byrd allowed 2 runs. Earning his 5th save of the year was Don Bessent.
Curt Blefary, who is tied for 5th in the AL with a 1.147 OPS, aided the Baltimore cause with a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the third. For the game, the catcher went 1 for 3 with a triple and a walk. He drove in 2 runs.
After the game, Baltimore manager Daniel Makonnen applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
With the win, the Black Sox have a record of 20-15.
