Beltrán Helps Ottawa Cruise to 10-3 Win
|
With center fielder Carlos Beltrán leading the charge, the Ottawa Mounties defeated the Philadelphia Stars, 10-3, at Hilltop Park. Beltrán, who is on pace to hit 46 home runs this season, hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. With the win, Ottawa pushed its record to 20-19.
Larry Walker had a big grand slam home run for the Mounties in the bottom of the second inning. With Ottawa leading 3-0 and the bases loaded, he sized up a fastball from 25-year old left-handed pitcher Steve Carlton and punished it. The result was his 17th home run of the season, which put the Mounties on top, 7-0.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Walker said.
