Monarchs Walk It Off for 26th Win of Season
|
Muehlebach Field 1923-1941 played host to some real drama.
The Kansas City Monarchs faced a tough opponent in Birmingham pitcher Jim Whitney, but found a way to pull out the victory at Muehlebach Field 1923-1941 by a final score of 4-2 in 10 innings. Whitney went 7 innings and allowed 2 runs. Kansas City leads the National League Marvin Miller Division by 4 games.
Kansas City got a knockout punch from Willie McGee. The center fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the bottom of the tenth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
"The crowd was juiced," said McGee.
