Miami Nets 4-3 Win Versus American Giants
|
Tricky Nichols, who finished 4th in the AL in wins with 15 last year, pitched well, but the Chicago American Giants still fell short, losing, 4-3, to the Miami Cuban Giants at South Side Park. Miami reliever Adonis Terry snagged the win, upping his record to 2-0. Tricky Nichols shouldered the loss. Earning his 8th save of the year was Ricky Nolasco.
Miami used a timely hit from Gary Sheffield to get the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Cuban Giants ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"It was a good effort all around," said Sheffield.
Miami, at 22-23, holds down third place in the American League Cumberland Posey Division.
