Red Sox Sneak Past Angels, 8-7
|
The Memphis Red Sox took Los Angeles pitcher Brett Anderson's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Fenway Park. The final score had Memphis getting past the Angels, 8-7. Anderson went 6.1 innings and allowed 3 runs, striking out 7. Andrew Miller snagged the win in relief. He goes to 3-4 on the season. Noah Lowry suffered the loss. The save went to Jonathan Papelbon, number 4 for him.
Memphis took the lead, 8-7, on Manny Ramírez's 9th home run of the season. The 3-run home run came off Los Angeles pitcher Noah Lowry in the bottom of the eighth.
Red Sox manager Daniel Makonnen wasn't all too pleased, despite the win, telling reporters that the performance highlighted some clear areas for improvement moving forward. He refused to be more specific, however. "I'm not gonna publicize our weaknesses," he said. "That stuff stays in the clubhouse."
The Red Sox sport a record of 17-28.
