American Giants Win at Home, 3-1
|
The Chicago American Giants locked up a win at South Side Park, knocking off the Portland Sea Dogs, 3-1. On the mound for Chicago was left-hander Mark Buehrle. He played a major role in the triumph. Earning his 1st save of the year was Hoyt Wilhelm. The win puts Chicago at 3-1.
Chicago center fielder Cristóbal Torriente contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 2nd hit of the season and put the American Giants ahead, 2-1.
"This was a tough loss," said Portland manager Daniel Makonnen. "It'll stick in my craw for a while."
