Sea Lions Sunk by Angels
The Los Angeles Angels knocked off the San Francisco Sea Lions, 8-3, at Angel Stadium of Anaheim 1998. Doug Rader was a big reason Los Angeles won. The third baseman went 3 for 3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Los Angeles starter Pud Galvin was credited with the win after throwing 91 pitches over 7 innings. His record now stands at 1-5. The Angels sit in 4th place in the American League Cumberland Posey Division with a record of 22-25.

Steve Garvey had a big bases-clearing triple for the Angels in the bottom of the seventh inning. With Los Angeles leading 5-3 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from 31-year old right-handed pitcher Mel Stottlemyre Sr and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Angels ahead, 8-3.

"We didn't pitch good, and when you don't pitch good, you lose," said San Francisco manager Daniel Makonnen.
