The New York Gothams got a rain-soaked win over the Ottawa Mounties.

The 6-5 New York win over Ottawa was due in large part to Benny Kauff. The Gothams designated hitter was 4 for 4 with 2 doubles and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Don Sutton snagged the win in relief. He goes to 5-3 on the season. Atlee Hammaker suffered the loss. Brian Wilson, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 5th save.

Kauff had a game-changing double in the bottom of the seventh. On a 1-1 fastball from Atlee Hammaker, he banged a 2-run double to left-center, giving the Gothams a 6-5 lead. It was the 13th double of the year for Kauff.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Kauff told the New York Today.

The win puts New York at 25-24 this season.
