Ruth Lifts Black Yankees to 9-7 Triumph
|
The New York Black Yankees defeated the Memphis Red Sox, 9-7, at Yankee Stadium. Leading the charge for New York was left fielder Babe Ruth. He was 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Aroldis Chapman finished to wrap up his 9th save. New York has run its win streak to 4 consecutive.
New York second baseman Tom Herr contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With two down, he hit a fastball to left field for a 2-run single. It was his 45th hit of the season and put the Black Yankees ahead, 9-6.
"Chalk one up for the good guys," said Herr. "I'm sure our fans enjoyed that win."
