Ottawa Defeated By Stars, 5-1
|
The Philadelphia Stars stymied the Ottawa Mounties, 5-1, at Shibe Park AL. Sherry Magee had a good day at the plate. He was 2-3 with 2 home runs and a walk for Philadelphia. The winning pitcher was 21-year old right-handed pitcher Hardie Henderson. He tossed 95 pitches over 5 innings, allowing 1 run on 4 hits. The win puts Philadelphia at 82-74 this season.
Scott Rolen, who is on pace to hit 42 home runs this season, helped out the Philadelphia cause in the bottom of the third inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the third baseman went 2-4 with a double.
"We take it day by day here," said Rolen, "and today was a good one for us."
