A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Homestead Grays and Houston Colt 45s.
Francisco Liriano, who is tied for 6th in the NL with a 8.5 K/9 rate, was locked in. The left-hander led the Homestead Grays to a 6-1 win against the Houston Colt 45s at Minute Maid Park. The winning pitcher was Liriano, now 10-12. He tossed 5 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 5.
Honus Wagner, who is tied for 10th in the NL in triples with 4, chipped in a run-scoring walk for Homestead in the top of the third. For the game, the third baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Wagner said after the game.
