Sea Lions Win at Home, 4-2
|
The San Francisco Sea Lions picked up a win at Oracle Park, topping the New York Black Yankees, 4-2. On the mound for San Francisco was left-hander Eddie Plank. He played a principal role in the triumph. Rod Beck earned his 40th save in 47 chances. The American League Cumberland Posey Division-leading Sea Lions have a record of 101-57.
Jimmie Foxx had a big 2-run double for the Sea Lions in the bottom of the third inning. With San Francisco leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a sinker from 23-year old left-handed pitcher Dave Righetti and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 16th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Sea Lions ahead, 3-0.
"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Foxx, "one at-bat at a time."
