Grays Win at Birmingham, 3-2
|
Josh Gibson made an impact in the 3-2 Homestead win over Birmingham. Gibson, who is tied for 3rd in the NL in doubles with 54, went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Bartolo Colón picked up the win, improving his season record to 2-3. He struck out 9 in 6 innings. Josh Lindblom got the save, his 35th in 41 chances.
Early in the game, Gibson had a run-scoring double for Homestead. It was his 54th double of the season and put the Grays on top, 1-0.
"It's the best feeling when you come through for your teammates," said Gibson.
Homestead sits in third place in the National League Effa Manley Division at 76-83.
