Monarchs Win with Late Heroics
The Indianapolis ABCs got a superb performance from pitcher Johnny Cueto, but the Kansas City Monarchs still won the game, 7-6. Cueto threw 8.0 innings of 3-hit ball. Kansas City reliever Craig Kimbrel was the winner. His record is now 5-5. Rob Murphy took the loss. Indianapolis has now lost 4 straight.

The decisive blow was delivered by Ozzie Smith in the bottom of the tenth when he hit a run-scoring double off 27-year old left-handed pitcher Rob Murphy to win the game for Kansas City. The home crowd went nuts.

"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Smith.
