Rolen Homers Twice in 8-4 Win
A good performance from third baseman Scott Rolen helped the Philadelphia Stars defeat the New York Gothams, 8-4. Rolen slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Stars. Mark Melancon picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 5-0. Christy Mathewson suffered the loss. This win makes it 5 in a row for Philadelphia.

Philadelphia used the timely hitting of Chase Utley to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Stars on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"They had a good approach," New York skipper Daniel Makonnen said of the opposition. "Hats off to them."
