House of David Lose to Colt 45s, 6-5
|
Though he had a stellar game, Ryne Sandberg could not prevent his team, the Wandering House of David, from losing, 6-5, to the Houston Colt 45s. Sandberg went 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Sparky Lyle notched his 7th save in 10 chances. Houston goes to 85-77. The win puts them 6 games up in their division.
Houston used a clutch at-bat from Jeff Bagwell to capture the win. The first baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Colt 45s ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"We'll take some time to unwind," said Bagwell, "and then get after it again."
