Streaking ABCs Win Another One, 6-5
|
The Indianapolis ABCs topped the Houston Colt 45s, 6-5, at Minute Maid Park. Indianapolis shortstop Tommy Helms was a spark plug for the offense. He went 2 for 3 with 2 singles and a walk. Edward Nolan, the winner, goes to 2-0. He allowed 5 runs on 6 hits, with 5 walks and 7 strikeouts over 5 innings. Earning his 11th save of the year was Rob Dibble.
In the top of the third, with the bases loaded, Helms came to the plate. He drew a walk, driving in 1 run off Fred Ely to put the ABCs in the lead, 5-4.
"We take it day by day here," said Helms, "and today was a good one for us."
The second-place ABCs have won 6 straight games.
