The Greensboro Grasshoppers defeated the Albany Diamond Dogs, 10-8, at Bleecker Stadium. Greensboro third baseman Larry Kopf had a superb performance. He was 2 for 3 with 2 singles and 2 walks. He scored 3 runs. Greensboro reliever Wally Bunker picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Jack Baldschun absorbed the loss. Aaron Poreda notched his 1st save in 4 chances.

The game was at a stalemate until designated hitter Paul Schaal came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing Albany pitcher Jack Baldschun, he hit a 1-2 screwball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Greensboro on top, 7-6.

"Games like this one keep the antacid makers in business," quipped Albany manager Alex Lopez.

With the win, the Grasshoppers hiked their record to 35-32.
