Behind a solid performance from first baseman Pedro Guerrero, the Brooklyn Royal Giants defeated the Wandering House of David, 11-5. Guerrero was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 and driving in 2 for the Royal Giants. Sandy Koufax got the win, improving to 1-1. He held the House of David to 3 runs on 3 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 8 and walking 1. The win lifted the Brooklyn record to 29-23.

Germany Smith had a big bases-clearing double for the Royal Giants in the top of the first inning. With Brooklyn leading 2-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from 30-year old right-handed pitcher Rick Reuschel and swatted a double to center. It was his 5th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Royal Giants ahead, 5-0.

"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Guerrero said.
