Demons Win Again, 5-1, Extend Streak to 6
|
Bill Phyle never let the Grasshoppers get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his fastball, to pitch the Demons to a win, 5-1. Phyle got the win, improving to 10-3. He allowed 5 hits and walked 2 over 7.1 innings. Phyle allowed 1 run. Roberto Osuna was credited with the save, his 10th in 12 tries.
The game could have flipped with no one out in the top of the seventh. But Bill Phyle made what his manager later called "an A-plus pitch." With runners on 1st and 2nd and Greensboro trailing 3-1, Phyle threw a splitter to Les Nunamaker and Nunamaker hit into a double play.
The first-place Demons have won 6 in a row.
