The performance of Eric MacKenzie proved critical in helping Harrisburg beat Wichita, 6-3. The Ponies catcher was 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Brett Tomko picked up the win, improving his season record to 5-8. He struck out 12 in 7 innings. Luke Hochevar, credited with the save, is now 2 for 2 in save opportunities.
MacKenzie provided the big break for the Ponies in the bottom of the first inning. With the bases loaded, he hit a run-scoring single, helping Harrisburg to get the win.
"I know we have our doubters," said Wichita manager Danny Mullen. "But I still have high hopes for this team."
The Ponies go to 28-51 with the win.
