Starting pitcher Warren Hacker did his part in helping the Greensboro Grasshoppers thwart the Wichita Witches, 4-1. Ernie White recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 19 for 21. The triumph puts Greensboro at 43-40 for the season.
In the top of the ninth, Greensboro first baseman Fred Whitfield hit a solo home run to left field. It put the Grasshoppers up, 2-1.
"I was hoping to make good contact," said Whitfield. "I wasn't trying to knock the snot out of it."
