Spiders Suffer 6-3 Road Loss
|
The Cleveland Spiders got a sterling performance from pitcher Cy Young, but the New York Black Yankees still prevailed, 6-3. Young threw 6.0 innings of 3-hit ball. The Black Yankees, now 37-18, have won 4 in a row.
New York took a 5-3 lead on Mike Schmidt's 12th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which Schmidt hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Cleveland pitcher Whit Wyatt visibly frustrated.
"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said Schmidt.
