Stars Take Down Mounties, 5-4
|
The Philadelphia Stars and Ottawa Mounties put on quite a show.
Ottawa got a big-time effort from pitcher Roy Halladay, but it wasn't enough to keep the Philadelphia Stars from winning the game, 5-4. Halladay threw 8.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. The win was credited to Fred Cambria in relief. His record improves to 1-0. BJ Ryan took the loss.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 12th inning, when Philadelphia right fielder Aaron Judge, facing Randy Johnson, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Stars the 5-4 win.
"We were the better team," crowed Judge.
At 28-29, the Stars claim third place in the National League Effa Manley Division.
