Providence Defeated by Greensboro, 2-0
|
Messer Street Grounds hosted an old-fashioned pitchers' duel.
The Greensboro Grasshoppers went home winners at Messer Street Grounds, thanks in large part to starter Aaron Sanchez. Sanchez stifled the Providence Clamdiggers, enabling Greensboro to grab the 2-0 win. Ernie White earned the save, his 20th in 25 tries.
Helping the Greensboro cause was Ron E Davis. In the top of the seventh, the former first round draft pick had a run-scoring double to make the score 2-0, Grasshoppers.
Sanchez was in a reflective mood after the contest. He told the Greensboro Daily, "Every game is it's own challenge. That's what keeps the competitive fire alive."
With the win over Providence, the Grasshoppers improved to 49-56.
