Rogan Lifts Stars to 2-1 Win
|
Fans watched the Philadelphia Stars and the Ottawa Mounties fight to the finish.
Philadelphia Stars pitcher Charles Rogan was in fine form, leading his team past the Ottawa Mounties, 2-1. Philadelphia reliever Brad Kilby picked up the win to move to 1-1. Randy Johnson suffered the loss. Ted Kennedy collected his 3rd save.
Philadelphia took a 2-1 lead on Sherry Magee's 2nd triple of the season. The run-scoring triple, which Magee hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Ottawa pitcher Bob Brown visibly frustrated.
"We didn't string enough hits together to win the game," said tight-lipped Ottawa manager Daniel Makonnen. "Obviously."
With the victory, the Stars upped their record to 29-29.
