Cobb Slugs Wolverines to 14-5 Win
Detroit designated hitter Ty Cobb contributed significantly to his team's 14-5 win over the Miami Cuban Giants. Cobb, who leads the AL with a .841 slugging percentage, went 2 for 5 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Wolverines. Their 81-82 record puts the Wolverines third in the American League Bill James Division.

With Detroit leading 4-0 in the bottom of the second, Cobb came up to bat against Miami pitcher Ramón Martínez. Cobb hit a fastball to center for a grand slam home run. His 54th home run of the season put the Wolverines on top, 8-0.

"I'm trying to see the ball big, see the ball up in the zone and put the barrel on it," Cobb told the Detroit Bulletin.
