Kaline Blasts Sea Lions, Wolverines Take Game 4, 6-4
|
When he got to Detroit, Al Kaline wasn't certain he would stick around long. Today, he was starring in the Wild Card Round.
The 21-year-old rookie right fielder dominated the visiting San Francisco Sea Lions in a remarkable performance at Tiger Stadium. He went 3-4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice as the Wolverines took the 6-4 win. With it, Detroit forced a 2-2 tie in the best-of-7 Wild Card Round.
The game turned with no one out in the bottom of the fourth. That's when Kaline hit a 2-run home run off Tim Hudson. It propelled the Wolverines into the lead, 4-2.
"It's nice to deliver when your team's counting on you," said Kaline.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Tiger Stadium in Detroit.
